The Science Behind Liberate™

Dr. Chayasirisobhon of Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Anaheim, California has published his findings in the journal Headache, May 2006. His antioxidant formulation combined Preoxus™ pine bark extract (Pinus radiata — Monterey pine) along with Vitamin C and E. The findings show that this antioxidant combination and dosage may reduce the occurrence and intensity of migraine headaches.

The study consisted of twelve patients who had failed three previous attempts to treat their migraines with prescription medications. The frequency and severity of their migraine attacks along with the impact on their daily lives was measured for 3 months. Results show a 50% improvement in the migraine disability scores and a 50% reduction in the amount of days with a migraine headache.

Dr. Chayasirisobhon writes "The data suggests that the antioxidant therapy used in this study may be beneficial in the treatment of migraine possibly reducing headache frequency and severity".

The pine bark extract used in this study was Pinus radiata from New Zealand. The ingredient used is specifically produced under a pure water extraction method rather than by using chemicals. The ingredient is known as Preoxus™ and is provided exclusively to Phoenix Biologics.

Follow up Studies

In continuation to the first study, Dr. Chayasirisobhon had proceeded to work with his original group while adding more patients to the antioxidant regimen. He is currently compiling his findings on patients who have now been taking the antioxidant formulation containing only the Preoxus™ and Vitamin C. The findings from this follow up study are expected to be published.

Dr. Chayasirisobhon is currently in the process of setting up a double blind study to continue providing evidence towards the effectiveness of the Liberate™ formulation.
